The following is a list of activities that will help your shed off some weight gradually:

1. Water aerobics

Water aerobics are very effective for weight loss. This is because water forces your muscles to become resistant. Water aerobics will not just help you to burn calories, it will also increase your muscle mass by reducing the body fat index.

2. Sufficient rest

It is always healthy to have enough rest after a hard day’s work. This is particularly important in case you are working out.

3.  Balanced diet

You should ensure that your food is composed of all nutrients. Avoid consuming nutrients in isolation. For instance, it is better to eat a meal with a combination of proteins and carbohydrates since the proteins slow down the rate at which carbohydrates are metabolized. This way your body does not pack a lot of sugar that is hugely responsible for weight gain.

4. Watch what you eat

Always focus on eating a proper balanced diet. Junk food has high mounts of sugar and calories which lead to weight gain. Therefore; avoid calorie snacks which are loaded with huge amounts of calories and harmful chemicals. You can replace that with fruits or yoghurt which is a lot more nutritious.

5. Regular eating

Eating three meals in a day will help improve your basal metabolic rate. As much as there are so many misconceptions about snacking, snacks actually provide sufficient energy for your body and prevent one from overeating. Ensure that you eat a healthy snack.

6. Stay active

As much as it is advisable to take enough rest, it is unhealthy for you to rest for the whole day. Being inactive for a long period means that the calories that you absorb are not broken down. They end up packing in your body which leads to weight gain. You do not have to run to stay active. Taking a 45 minute walk on a daily basis is still effective in burning calories.

7. Drink a lot of water

Drinking plenty of water is important because as you get older, you become less sensitive to thirst. Water is very essential for metabolism and digestion. If you do not take water regularly, your body might mistake thirst for hunger thus resulting in overeating.

It is never too late for anything. A healthy weight will reduce health complications and help you to live longer.
